Help with troubled teens
Are you worried about your teenager? Are you losing sleep, wondering if they are okay? Do you wonder if their behavior is just “kid stuff” or a call for help? Call for a complimentary consultation.
Our therapeutic relationship starts with an initial 30-minute meeting with the parent(s) and the adolescent together. Issues with teens often present at home as well as at school and treating them involves looking at the family as a whole. In our initial meeting, we get to know each other and find out what the concerns are. From this point, we will develop a plan for therapy. Depending on the needs of your teenager, sessions can take place with parents alone, the teenager alone, or the family together.
Every child and family is unique and deserves an individual treatment plan suited to their specific issues and the goals they want to reach. Often the teenager will come to therapy without an understanding of the severity of the issues he or she is facing. During the teenage years, if there is substance use or hanging out with a bad choice of friends and peers, these actions can affect the rest of their life
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is beneficial for teenagers and parents in helping restructure negative thought patterns. This is a time in life when teenagers are developing core beliefs they will carry with them into adulthood. With CBT, we ensure these beliefs and ways of thinking are helpful, realistic, and optimistic. Our thoughts impact our emotions and our behavior. CBT deals with issues in the present and allows us to deal with the “here and now.” Therapy offers the opportunity to develop feelings of self-worth, and build a sense of empowerment and the ability to cope with life’s challenges.
In family and individual therapy, we can bring our teenager back onto a path that will lead to a bright future and a healthy sense of self.
Adolescence is a journey. Let’s make sure we are headed in the right direction and we understand where we are going and how to get there.
There are times in your life when career counseling and executive coaching will help you get the most out of your potential.
Young people either just out of high school or college benefit from professional help with resumés and interviewing skills, as well as determining what it is they actually want to pursue as a career. This is a confusing and exciting time. In our sessions, we will:
- Understand where you are going
- Identify what’s holding you back and find solutions to real and perceived barriers
- Develop a creative action plan
- Ongoing follow-up and coaching as needed
Executive coaching is focused on issues of leadership, upper management, and achieving your highest goals. As with any coaching or mentoring, we develop a plan that is unique to your specific goals and challenges. In general, executive coaching is focused on leadership and self-development to help you reach your highest goals through:
- Developing greater self-awareness
- Unbiased support in a competitive environment
- Development of leadership qualities — leadership qualities are not necessarily something you are born with, but they can be developed
- Communication coaching
- Working through internal problems that may be keeping you from success
